A. SPATIAL DEVELOPMENT

  1. Spatial Framework of Sterea Ellada Region
  2. Spatial Impact Assessment of European Funds between 1996 - 2003 in the Region of Sterea Ellada.
  3. Drafting of "STRATEGIC PLAN FOR LAMIA AS A PILOT APPLICATION FOR MEDIUM-SIZED EUROPEAN CITIES" and support for social dialogue procedures. Contracting agency: Municipality of Lamia / European Commission D.G.XVI.
  4. Study for the upgrading of a special zone called "POLYTOPO" at the archaeological site and the historical city of Ierapetra (pop: 12,000). Specifically: Reclamation of old salt-marsh area, and creation of an interior lagoon area and multiple-use recreation areas. Contracting agency: Municipality of Ierapetra, 1993.
  5. General guidelines for integrated development of housing areas in the prefectures of Evia and Fthiotida. Contracting agency: Ministry of the Environment, Planning and Public Works, 1999 (still in progress).
  6. Local spatial plans for the Municipalities of Argos, Thebes, Lamia, Archanes etc.

B. URBAN PLANNING

  1. Town planning study and implementation study for the area of summer residences in the Municipality of Kalyvia (on the south-east coast of Attica). Contracting agency: Ministry of the Environment, Planning and Public Works, 1994 (still in progress).
  2. Urban renewal in central areas (Article 13) and expansion of the town of Kiato (implementation study). Contracting agency: Municipality of Kiato, 1993.
  3. Town planning, organization and implementation study for the coastline in the region of Eastern Rethymnon, Crete. Contracting agency: Community of Adele, 1995 (still in progress).
  4. Town planning and implementation study for the Municipality of Gazi, Heraklion, Crete. Contracting agency: Ministry of the Environment, Planning and Public Works, 1996 (still in progress).

C. URBAN ENVIRONMENT UPGRADING AND MANAGEMENT

  1. Urban environment upgrading programme for the Municipality of Aghios Dimitrios, Attica. Contracting agency: Municipality of Aghios Dimitrios, Attica, 1990.Traffic arrangements for the Municipality of Aghios Dimitrios, Attica, involving the construction of extensive pedestrianized areas and cycle-lanes. Preparation of selectable recommendation for the EU LIFE Programme, 1992. 
  2. Implementation study for the construction of a pedestrianized area, cycle-lanes and parking area in the Aghios Dimitrios shopping centre ( 1.5 km), involving the preservation of public traffic facilities (implementation in operation). Municipality of Aghios Dimitrios, Attica, 1993. 
  3. Three-year inter-state pilot programme for RECITE I (1992-1994) on "Strategic Upgrading of the Built Urban Environment in the Centre of Lamia" on behalf of the city of Lamia, network-leader for eight European cities with populations of between 50,000 and 200,000 residents.

More specifically the programme comprised:

  • Comparative study for city centre development in four European medium-sized cities ( Lamia, Roskilde, Zwole, Charleroi).
  • Land use reorganization study, using a G.I.S. for viable city centre management adjusted to the requirements of the network's medium-sized cities.
  • Proposal for the minization of car-use, coordination of traffic and urban planning.
  • Proposal for modernization of the infrastructure network.
  • Office organization and implementation programme.

Contracting agency: Municipality of Lamia / EU's D.G.XVI, within the framework of RECITE I, 1992-1994.

 

4. Special planning study for the upgrading of the Municipality of Kallithea, Attica (pop: 180,000) by increasing public utility areas, and alternative proposal for mild forms of parking. Contracting agency: Municipality of Kallithea, 1991.

5. Urban renewal and rehabilitation of public areas at Lofos Sikelias in Kallithea. Contracting agency: Municipality of Kallithea, 1993.

6. Upgrading of coastline ( 4 km) at Kiato (pop: 12,000) through a combination of planning regulations and implementation of combined traffic arrangements and construction of pedestrianized and parking areas. The application is currently in operation. Contracting agency: Municipality of Kiato, 1992.

D. IMPACT ASSESSMENT

  1. Environmental impact of the Athens Metro on the built environment. Special Consultant to NAMA S.A., Athens Metro S.A., 1994.
  2. Environmental Impact Assessment Study of road network upgrading works in the prefecture of Trikala. Contracting agency: Ministry of the Environment, Planning and Public Works, 1995.
  3. Environmental Impact Assessment Study of upgrading works on the regional Atalanti-Fthiotida highway, 1995.  
  4. Spatial analysis support for the Environmental Impact Assessment Study on the construction of the pedestrianized section of the "Unification of Athens Archaeological Sites" project, 1998.
  5. Spatial impact of EU development policies on the Central Region of Greece.


E. CONSULTATION SERVICES TO EU PROGRAMMES

  1. Management consultant to the Lamia Municipal Enterprise for Local Publicity Organization for the interstate programme RECITE, 1992-1994: "Strategic Upgrading of the Built Urban Environment in the Centre of Lamia". 
  2. Management consultant to the interstate European Cities MECINE network, 1995. 
  3. Consultant to the Prefecture of Lasithi, Crete, regarding participation in LEADER II, TERRA AND INFORMATION SOCIETY programmes (network organization and programme development).

F. HOUSING

  1. Preliminary study for housing development at the "Thessaliko Horio" [ Thessaly Village], a self-financing seaside housing complex for expatriate Greeks, covering an area of 10 hectares. Comprehensive package including the sales policy for the final housing product. Public Planning & Housing Corporation (DEPOS), 1998.
  2. General direction of design and management policies for Public Planning & Housing Corporation projects; two large housing developments for the Corporation, including:
  • The " Arcadian Village", a holiday-home complex for Greek expatriates on the Repondina peninsula in Arcadia (300 housing units, 200 plots and a 100-bed hotel with full technical and social infrastructure). State Planning & Housing Corporation, 1989.  
  • The only building expansion organized in post-World War II Greece, in the town of Kalamitsa, near Kavala ( 206 hectares, of which 76 were delivered for use during 1987-1989, as plots with full infrastructure). State Planning & Housing Corporation, 1989.
